Today, Canon has announced a highly affordable mirrorless camera and lens, the EOS R100 and the RF 28mm f/2.8 STM.

At $479, the EOS R100 is a highly affordable entry point into the Canon mirrorless ecosystem, with the company positioning it as a direct replacement for EOS Rebel and EOS M cameras. Its features include:

  • 24.2-megapixel APS-C sensor
  • DIGIC 8 processor
  • ISO range of 100-12,800
  • Continuous burst rate of up to 6.5 fps
  • 3-inch, 1.04-million-dot rear LCD
  • 2.36-million-dot OLED electronic viewfinder
  • 4K video at up to 24 fps (cropped)
  • Full HD video at up to 60 fps (full width)
  • Dual Pixel CMOS autofocus system with eye and face detection 
  • Bluetooth and Wi-Fi
  • Single SD card slot

The EOS R100 is available for preorder now, with expected availability in July.

Canon RF 28mm f/2.8 STM Lens

The RF 28mm f/2.8 STM is a pancake lens, measuring only an inch (24.7 mm) in length and weighing just 4.2 oz (120 g), with an MSRP of $299. Its features include:
